The St Andrews Centre for the Receptions of Antiquity (SACRA) was established in 2022 to provide a collaborative platform for the expertise in the field of ancient cultural reception studies spread across several Schools in the university. The Centre is hosted by the School of Classics and as such the “Antiquity” of our name will tend to reflect the “Greek” and “Roman”, Mediterranean origins of the discipline of Classical Reception Studies, but we are not defined by these limits. One of the innovative aspects of the Centre will be its attention to the lesser-known intersections and overlaps of traditional disciplinary borders.
